bembridge windmill
Bembridge Windmill is owned by the National Trust. It was built in c.1700 and is the only surviving windmill on the Isle of Wight. The windmill is a Grade I listed building. It is four storeys tall and has four wind sails. It is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside and the views of the island from the top are spectacular. The interior still has most of the original machinery despite last being operated in 1913. The windmill could easily feature in a period drama. The windmill was painted by Turner in 1795.
